Margaret Goodman’s life is full of firsts. She was the first of her ten brothers and sisters to go to college. She was awarded four academic scholarships and chose a scholarship from Florida State University and became one of the first black students to integrate FSU and their nursing school. She was recently honored for her courage during that part of her life. She was one of ten founding AKA sorors at FSU, the first black sorority on the campus. She double majored in Nursing and Biology and she’s worked as an RN since 1973. In 2005 she helped organize her hospital, Parkway, the first Tenet election under the agreement. She is a member of Florida Healthcare Union's first Executive Board. She has one son and two grandchildren who live in Nashville. She currently lives in Miami.
